Become Part of the Family

For a small sum each month, you can “adopt” a Bubby or Zaida, and help a lonely or isolated senior in our community.  The “adopt” a Bubby or Zaida program supports these elderly clients in our community who are struggling to put food on the table or who are isolated or living alone.  Our program assists these individuals primarily with food security, with a suggested ongoing monthly donation via our website.

The adoption program also connects people that are lonely and isolated (or do not have extended family members in the city), for social engagement.

We try to match people to “connect” families who are compatible. For example, we found a young mother with two small children who originated from another country, currently living on Vancouver Island.  We had a senior also from this same country who has no extended family in the area. He was quite lonely and isolated.  We connected them, and they hit it off! The young family quickly adopted this individual as their “Zaida” and visited him regularly.
