The Saanich Green Market
the Saanich Green Market is Twice a month on Sundays from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm
Our goal is to offer wholesale prices for groceries for everyone but especially for people with low to moderate and fixed incomes. It is a boost, a hand up, to counteract the increasing cost of fresh food and the current high rates of inflation. Food security is not only the amount of food but the quality of food that is available.
At the markets we have BBQ’s, hot soup, live music, fresh flowers, games - a fun atmosphere for the whole family!
Market days will be twice a month on Sundays. In the spring, summer and fall, they will be held outdoors on the Jewish Community Centre’s parking lot. (3636 Shelbourne St.). The parking lot is accessible for those in walkers or wheelchairs. During inclement weather, the market will move indoors to the Cedarhill Scout Hall. (behind the community centre). The Scout Hall is now wheelchair accessible thanks to a generous grant that allowed us to buy a portable ramp.
The Saanich Green Market is located between Fujiya Japanese Foods and the Jewish Community Centre of Victoria - across the street from the Shelbourne Shopping Plaza.
All leftover produce is donated to the Shelbourne Community Kitchen and Ctots pre-school. There is plenty of parking in the Shelbourne Shopping Plaza and there are bike racks in front of the community centre. Bus routes 27 and 28 stop nearby at Shelbourne and Pear Streets and Shelbourne Street and Cedarhill Cross Road.
