Saanich Green Market returns Spring 2023
The Chanukah market on Sunday, December 18th in the Cedar Hill Scout Hall was another sold out success! We were listening to the FIFA soccer results while putting prices on the vegetable and fruits. Argentina won, the chicken soup arrived steaming hot- no snow! Everything sold out quickly including Chanukah candles, gelt and dreidels (all at wholesale cost). Our sufganiot (jelly donuts) giveaway was gone in less than an hour... what a great turnout!
Any left over produce went to the Shelbourne Community Kitchen. Special thanks to Phyllis Chuly and her family, Damaris and Mark, Leon and Paulette Zetler, Elior and Leah Kinarthy. This market is a great success because we have so many devoted people who believe in what we are accomplishing with a wholesale, fresh produce market, for our local communities.
We were advised by our grocery expert Leon Zetler, that during the winter months, produce gets very expensive and can be challenging for a variety of reasons to ship fresh, local produce to the Island. Thus the Saanich Green Market is closing for the months of January and February and will be back on March 5 and March 19th. See you for our grand reopening in the spring!
