The markets have been more and more successful with the crowds getting larger every with every event. We have been the grateful recipients of recent grants to expand the market. Our heartfelt appreciation to the Victoria Foundation! They are incredible supporters of this program and of Jewish Family Services. In addition, Jewish Federation of Victoria and Vancouver Island has given us a small grant- every little bit helps!

In August we will have berries, plums, apples, corn and lots of other locally sourced produce. Both Sunwing and Gobind Farms give us wholesale prices, that we pass onto our customers. We look forward to a Rosh Hashanah market in early September!

We have many local partnerships and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Fairway Markets on Shelbourne, Fernwood General Store, Cobs Bread, Fujiya Japanese Grocery Store, Omnitsky Deli in Vancouver and the Jewish Community Centre of Victoria. We send any leftover produce to the Shelbourne Community Kitchen and to CTOTS for their preschool lunch program so that nothing goes to waste.

A special thank-you to the First Cedar Hill Scouts for their continued generosity. They provide tables, chairs, storage and have given us permission to bring in a fridge. We hold the market in the Scout Hall during inclement weather. An amazing community partnership!

This Sunday, JFS is holding our annual volunteer appreciation event at a local winery. We are honoring a fantastic group of people and acknowledging all of their efforts to support people in financial need in our communities.
