Saanich Green Market-what's new!

Jewish Family Services is pleased to announce that we are in the midst of intensive planning to open the Saanich Green Market at the Jewish Community Centre of Victoria in late spring or early summer. Thanks to the assistance of a generous grant from the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Vancouver we are able to hire a part-time coordinator. JFSVI is pleased to welcome Ora Stefanic as the coordinator of the new Saanich Green market! She brings a tremendous amount of experience, energy and enthusiasm to this project.

The main concept for this market is to provide a hand up and assist people to buy healthy food. It is not a hand out of free processed food or almost expired items. We conclude that people purchasing fresh produce at wholesale prices preserves their dignity and ultimately will reduce food waste. We believe that the Saanich Green Market would be the only fresh produce market offered at wholesale prices on Vancouver Island.

You can now email your donations directly into the JFSVI account with an e-transfer if you like! Just send it to reachout@jfsvi.ca. 100% of your donation will go to JFSVI through this direct deposit method. (Donations through our website costs JFSVI 3% of the total.) With e-transfers JFSVI will send you a tax deductible receipt. Please be sure to put in your full name and your mailing address.
